Stakeholders and innovators from across the Southeast gathered at the International Convention Centre(ICC)Awka, last weekend for the Pivot Conference 3.0, themed “Reimagine Southeast.”
The annual convergence brought together policymakers, entrepreneurs and development experts to discuss pathways for repositioning the region through technology, enterprise and innovation.
In one of the breakout sessions focusing on digital transformation, the Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Chiamaka Nnake, underscored the importance of positioning and preparedness for business growth in a digital economy. She urged entrepreneurs to leverage technology as an enhancer of value rather than a substitute for sound business practices.
“Be confident in the value you offer,” she said, adding that technology should be seen as a tool to amplify visibility and efficiency. Citing Governor Soludo’s mantra ‘Everywhere Technology, Technology Everywhere’ she reiterated that the State Government remains deliberate about digital inclusion through initiatives like the One Million Digital Tribe, which provides free digital skills training for Ndi Anambra.
The Managing Director/CEO of Anambra State Small Business Agency(ASBA), Clement Chukwuka, spoke on the need for transparency and documentation among small business owners. He encouraged entrepreneurs to open corporate bank accounts, embrace digital transactions and maintain proper records, explaining that such structures are essential for accessing loans and support from financial institutions.
On his part, Daniel Chinagozim, Head of the Digital Transformation Centre Nigeria, highlighted the role of preparedness and compliance in business sustainability. He advised participants to register their businesses, obtain tax clearance and other regulatory certifications, and take advantage of free capacity building platforms such as the Anambra Digital Tribe.
The session provided practical insights into how small and medium enterprises can leverage technology to improve efficiency, access opportunities and scale their operations sustainably.
The Pivot Conference continues to serve as a platform for collaboration, innovation and idea exchange aimed at driving economic transformation across the Southeast.
