Soludo’s Tailoring/Garment Cluster Project records steady progress as ASBA team inspects Ogbunike/Nkwelle site.

Officials of the Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA)have conducted a progress inspection at the ongoing Tailoring/Garment Industrial Cluster located at Ogbunike/Nkwelle in Oyi Local Government Area to assess the level of work completed on the project.

The visit revealed notable progress at the site where about 600 shops are being developed as part of the State Government’s industrial cluster initiative aimed at strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSMEs) across Anambra State.

A walk around the project site showed that the project has advanced beyond its earlier stages, with the entire market floor now properly leveled through landscaping,to prepare the ground for smooth access and structural finishing. In addition, iron doors for the shops have been fabricated and delivered to the site with some already installed while others are awaiting installation as work continues.

The Tailoring/Garment cluster is designed to consolidate hundreds of tailoring and textile businesses currently scattered across different streets and markets in Onitsha Main Market, thereby to help the Governor’s drive to decongest the market including Ogalonye,Nottidge,Francis Streets into a single organized hub for garments, textiles and tailoring accessories.

The MD/CEO, Clement Chukwuka said that when completed, the market is expected to enhance productivity, improve accessibility for traders and customers and promote the patronage of Made-in-Anambra products in line with the economic vision of the State Government.

The cluster will also create business opportunities for beneficiaries of the State’s 1Youth 2 Skills programme, further supporting the growth of local enterprises and reducing youth migration in search of economic opportunities elsewhere.

The project forms part of the broader economic strategy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to develop structured industrial clusters that will drive commerce, improve urban market organization and stimulate sustainable economic growth in Anambra State.
